-40F is not a good thing for your flash drive. I have 2G Lexar FireFly flash drive. I had the drive in the outside pocket of my jacket while I was working outside in the cool weather. It got scrambled, which in it self would not seem like a bad thing if one had it back-up. But who ever backs up there data? ARRRRRGGH!!
On the upside I found some software on the Internet that actually recovered 90% of the data on the drive. Data Doctor Recovery is the program. You can download the trail version for free, with the catch that it will show you that it could recover the files if you by the software. So what is your lost data worth? I decided that my was worth $45.00 for the software.
So with the data recovered I should make the midnight deadline for turning in my final project.

Weekly post: Never enough time
Why does it seem that there is never enough time in the day to finish all of these things that we do? I think that the clock at the end of the semester speeds up and we slow down. Every thing seems to come due at the same time. Even with good time management things always fall by the side….

We all pay unemployment insurance. If you are lucky enough to never use it should you get part of it back? I think that you should. I have been paying into the system since I started working, at 15, and have never used it. I guess that it has to add up to a size-able chunk of change.
So if you never use the unemployment insurance should you be able to withdraw your principal investment into the program?
What do you think?

HW Post 120307: Fireworks
I like using Fireworks. I found it to be friendly and easy. Although as with Dreamweaver I would recommend getting a larger monitor to display your work on.
I found that having all the preloaded options for colors and live filters made me more creative. Which is saying a lot.

Money it seems to make the world go around and around. Who should get paid the most, or what is fair compensation?
Should what you get paid be based on what you do, how you do it, or just how much the market can bear? Should police officers and teachers be paid the same wage?
I don’t like anything to do with sewage. Hence, when I need the septic pumped, I call the pumping and thawing guy and I just pay the bill. The guy doing that job has not only my respect but my money. Does that make him more important than a brain surgeon or does it mean that I am just lazy? More importantly what motivates someone to take up a career in the sewage industry? It can’t be just the money. Maybe it is the smile on the homeowners face when they had over the check…
At the end of the day regardless of what you make wage wise, I don’t think that it makes anyone truly happy( life, easier perhaps). There will always be that one extra toy we need or want.

Has anyone noticed that Christmas keeps coming earlier? The lights are all ready going up all over town. What happen to Thanksgiving? I would like a break between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Just a week or so, where no one is allowed to turn on their Christmas lights or play the Christmas Carols… No crazy discount-shopping day after Thanksgiving. As it is I plan to go to work early on Friday to avoid the shoppers…

HW: 19Nov07, Copyright
Do you think the current copyright laws are fair, unfair?
Fair, for the moment. I believe that it is safer to error on the side of caution and stay with the current copyright laws. This isn’t to say that we, or the industry, should not continue to review the laws to ensure that they make sense. The copyright laws will have to evolve with the technology.
Should there be such a thing as “intellectual property”?
Certainly intellectual property exists. But how often do any of us document our thoughts, ideas, in order to preserve them prior to sharing them? How do you know you’re your thought arrived before the person’s next to you, or halfway around the world. Intellectual property is a great idea, but until you can easily prove who’s thought or idea it is, it is pointless to generate a law.
Have you ever used materials in a way that was against copyright?
I think everyone has violated the copyright laws at one point or another. All you have to do is forward e-mail with an article in it, make a CD with music and pass it onto a friend, cut and paste a picture from the internet, or copy something from a book at the library. While the intent to violate the law is not there, it most likely has been violated.
Have you ever been unable to use something because copyright law prevented it?
Yes, at our office we have technical manuals that our copyrighted. We are not allowed to copy them or publish anything from them. So we end up reinventing the wheel by writing our own technical guides.

HWPost for: 12Nov07, Dreamweaver
I just finished the Superpage. I am ready to go look for some other software. Not to mention a larger monitor.
Maybe if you had a 42″ wide screen with 3 windows open for Dreamweaver it would be easier to use. I am to keep flipping between the preview and the Dreamweaver page in order to keep on track with the assignment. I also not the the display in Dreamweaver kept compressing make trying to make it fit into the allocated space on the screen. This drove me crazy! Because I was trying to place things and when I preview them they were not were I put them.
Arggghhh!!

Weely Post: 5Nov07, I am tired….
I have the blahs. not sure if it is the waning day light or just life in general. I believe my lack of motivation just maybe pure and simple laziness.
I like laying in front of the bay window and watching the sunrise with good cup of coffee. The only problem is that sunrise keeps getting later and later. it is starting to interfere with work.
Be happy and appreciate the simple things!
